PST: Is Ligue1 is new soccer watcher?s darling?

?Another soccer league to follow? Uh ? I?m pretty, uh, full up. But let me see ? well ? OK!? I?m in!?

What can I say? I?m a sucker for a new thing.

The work as a soccer journalist ? admittedly, only loosely defined as ?work? ? can be a little overwhelming.

For writers here, Major League Soccer is the bread and butter. Knowing the U.S. national team scene is a solid requirement, too. As we see from goings-on in the UK, that means men and women.

Of course, lots of fans love some EPL with their Saturday or Sunday morning pancakes. Liga MX, with a solid domestic following already and a slowly growing roster of Yanks, deserves watching.

And don?t we get a little goose-pimply at the thought of our next Real Madrid-Barcelona battle in La Liga?

Oh! Champions League! Let?s not forget about the greatness of UEFA?s global club soccer heavy.

You get the idea. Serie A and Bundesliga, Primera Divisi?n, etc.? There?s just so much to follow.

All that said ?

I?m into French Ligue1 this year. It?s all about the fancy new remodel in the neighborhood, Paris Saint Germain. Big money has given manager Carlo Ancelotti the resources to go pluck fruit from the world?s most talented trees. So the likes of Thiago Motta (Inter) and Ezequiel Lavezzi (Napoli) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (AC Milan) are now Parisians, ready to make historic Parc des Princes a player once again in major European battles.

Hopefully, we can see more than Champions League matches from PSG, Lyon, Marseilles, etc. ?New outlet beIN Sports has the Ligue 1 contract; whether beIN Sports is more than rumor in your part of the world is between you and your TV provider. Most systems aren?t carrying beIN Sports just yet.

Mine isn?t. But that?s not going to stop me. We all know there are ways.

Ligue1 begins a week from tomorrow. I?ll be watching.
